Margate Community to Host Evening Benefiting Soroka Medical Center, Featuring Newsmax Correspondent Sarah Williamson
Chaired by AFS Board Member Mindy Gale Zeigerman and Jeffrey Amtman, with committee members Donna and Michael Brenner, Renee Stemmer, and Pam Lehrer and Howard Drossner, the event will bring the community together to highlight Soroka Medical Center's lifesaving work and support its mission to provide world-class healthcare, expand critical mental health services, and care for patients in times of crisis.
The evening will feature Sarah Williamson, an acclaimed Australian journalist, Newsmax correspondent, and featured voice in Heroes of Truth, photographer Limor Garfinkle's global storytelling initiative. The project, developed following the devastation of Oct. 7th, showcases individuals committed to courageously advancing truth and combating misinformation through their unique voices, and is dedicated to supporting comprehensive Mental Health care projects at Soroka, including PTSD.
A veteran conflict reporter specializing in foreign policy and geopolitics, Williamson spent five years reporting from Israel and has covered major global events from the front lines, including the war in Ukraine. Her firsthand reporting and deep understanding of the region will offer attendees a unique perspective on truth, and the vital role institutions like Soroka Medical Center play during times of crisis.
Following the October 7 attacks, Soroka's physicians, nurses, and emergency teams treated hundreds of casualties while continuing to care for thousands of patients across southern Israel. In June 2025, the hospital itself sustained a direct missile strike, yet staff continued delivering lifesaving medical care while preparing for the next chapter of rebuilding.
"At Soroka Medical Center, hope and healing are demonstrated every day through extraordinary acts of compassion, resilience, and innovation," said Rachel Heisler Sheinfeld, Executive Director of AFS. "Today, as it rebuilds and expands critical mental health services alongside its world-class medical care, Soroka is shaping a stronger future for southern Israel. We are deeply grateful to our South Jersey community for standing with us and look forward to welcoming Sarah Williamson as we share this remarkable story of courage."
Together, attendees will support one of the world's most remarkable medical institutions and its commitment to caring for every patient who walks through its doors. For additional information or to register, visit Soroka.org/SorokaHeals.
